Family Nurse Practitioner

Marianne Holmer is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from Luther College and Master of Science in Nursing from Rush University in Chicago. Marianne is an active member of the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society.
Prior to her FNP role, Marianne worked at Rush University Medical Center as a registered nurse for seven years specializing in the post-operative management of cardiovascular-thoracic and neurosurgical patients in an acute inpatient setting. Her particular interests in medicine are women’s health, asthma/COPD and the management of diabetes. In Marianne’s free time she enjoys the outdoors, music, dancing and learning to sail.

Family Nurse Practitioner
“As a certified family nurse practitioner, I approach caring for the patient as a whole. It is my responsibility to be a patient advocate, ensuring the patient’s empowerment with all medical and health decisions.”
Valerie Morse completed both her Master of Science in Nursing and the Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program at DePaul University. From 2010-2011, she was an adjunct faculty member and a clinical instructor for the Master’s Entry to Nursing Practice (MENP) at DePaul University Department of Nursing. Valerie is a board certified advance practice nurse. She is especially interested in preventative care through regular check-ups, vaccinations and health screenings. She is fluent in English and German.

Lanay Samuelson is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago. Previously, Lanay worked at Loyola University Medical Center as a registered nurse specializing in cardiovascular/thoracic surgical step down, heart transplant, and cardiac intensive care.

Joi Sawyer received her Bachelor of Biology from Mississippi Valley State University, Itta Bena, and a Master of Science in Nursing in Public Health from Meharry Medical College, Nashville. Later, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing (FNP) from Vanderbilt University, Nashville. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is also a member of the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses. Joi’s special interests include overcoming the challenge of obesity in children, and finding ways to decrease the incidence of diabetes, heart disease and stroke in minority populations. Joi sees patients of all ages—from infants to adults—and can address your day-to-day health concerns, including minor illnesses, injuries, sports physicals and women’s health issues.
